BRADMAN 2005/06 CHALLENGE MATCH
The inaugural Bradman Challenge Match was held on Saturday April 8, 2006 on the famous Bradman Oval in Bowral. What is hoped to become an annual fixture on the Club's Calender proved to be a resounding success with all involved. Twenty-four players, a multitude of relatives and friends, were treated to a postcard setting, a perfect autumn day, 500 plus runs and a swag of wickets.
The format of the match saw the first year U/16's challenge the second year U/16's in an entertaining match that went down to the wire. In the end the old boys captained by Ryan Croom and coached by Harry Robbins narrowly defeated the young boys captained by Daniel Ward and coached by Dennis Pendergast. Congratulations to all the players on way they presented and conducted themselves as representatives of our Club, you did us proud.
The Club would like to thank the Committee members and official umpires Robbie Knight and Stephen Chapman for their contribution on the day. Also thanks to Jenny Ward, Barbara Pendergast, Patricia Croom, Jodi Latham and Kim Herne for organising and setting up the afternoon tea. Last, but not least, we would like to thank the Bradman Foundation, especially Allison Hyland Administration Manager, for assisting us in our request to play on the much sought after Bradman Oval.
