Round No.10 and final round of the junior competition was abandoned on the second Saturday of the matches due to the heavy rainy conditions that have hit Sydney for the start of autumn. With no results possible our 10E team was unable to make the Final, but our 16C side finished in second place and will face Bangor in their Final next Saturday March the 11 at Oyster Bay Oval.
With limited opportunity to perform there was still a number of good team and individual performances with Harry Long (16C) 3 for 8 and William Whitehouse (16A) 50 not out the joint ‘Intermediate Players of the Round’ and Zachary Brownscombe (10E) 2 for 3 our ‘Junior Players of the Round’. Other good efforts came from Hamish Jacka (14C) 55 not out, Riley Ganderton (12C) 30 not out with Mitchell Brownscombe (10E) this rounds most outstanding fieldsman with 3 run outs. Our U8 Blue team at 3 for 135 to Como-Jannali’s 5 for 22 was well placed for another big win with Ryan Lillis 37, Lucas Sheehy 23, Thomas Wheatley 23 and Jayden Dundas 20 & 2 for 0.
The men’s competition is now completed with our B1/2 Premiers of their grade with a narrow close fought match against Gymea. After bowling the opposition out for 59 with ‘Player of the Final’ Tim Russell taking 6 for 13 the Dragons squeezed passed the score in the 20th over with 7 wickets down. In a low scoring match double figures were rare with Jaryd Duncan scoring quick fire 18 at the top of the order and not out batsmen Adam Pascoe 14 & Adam Turvey 10 getting the side across the line. In our other two Finals the B4 team went down to St. Patricks and the unfortunate C1 team didn’t make the field due to the conditions with both sides finishing Runners Up.
