The last ball has been bowled and hit for 2017 with our teams now breaking for the Christmas break. Our junior teams will resume competition on Saturaday January 27, 2018 while our seniors return much ealier on Saturday January 6, 2018 playing three one day matches in this period.
Our junior sides didn’t have the best final round before the break with only three wins, although there were a couple of sides that went down by the narrowest of margins. At this stage of the season with three matches left to be played our undefeated 10A’s and 16C team are both holding down first while our 14D, 12A and 10F sides are all in second positions in their respective competition. Best performers this round were Corey Moors (16A) 85, Hayden Lindsay (14A) 53 & 2 for 11, Charlie Te Hira (14D) 50 not out, Luke Ritchie (14A) 3 for 12, Kyle Blakeney (10B) 2 for 5 and Connor Ganderton (10A) 2 for 11.
Seniors have another five rounds to play, which include 3 x one dayers and 2 x two dayers. Both our 2 x B2 teams and B5 team are well placed for a spot in the semi finals, while our B1 side also has a chance to make the play offs. Best performers over the past two Saturdays has come from centurian’s Josh Kedwell (B3) 153 and Brayden Heffernan (B3) 127 not out with Brett Campbell (B5) 84, Corey Moors (B2) 78 not out, Pat Bird (B5) 72, Brayden Heffernan (B3) again with 72 & 3 for 27 and Tim Berry (B3) 66. The best of the bowlers was Mitchell Davis (B2) 4 for 26.
