All Time Best EDCC Teams

During the 2007/08 season, we ran a number of initiatives to celebrate our 50th year as a Cricket Club in the SSJCA. The first of these was the selection of the All Time Best EDCC 16A Team. The team was selected by a number of long serving EDCC members, going back through all 50 years of records. The team was announced at the Trivia Night in February 2008.

    Brilliant stroke maker when facing opening fast bowlers, top off spinner and great leader of teams, also top fieldsman in any position

    Opening batsman with a fine array of shots, good leg spinner and great cover fieldsman

    Brilliant number three or four bat that dominated all bowling attacks, excellent first change bowler

    Stats:
    L/H Bat & Wicket Keeper. Best Seasons: 1968/69 (A1) . 585 runs & 27 catches & 9 stumpingsNotes: Club Champion 1970/77. Left hand opening bat and brilliant wicket keeper that took most bowlers over the stumps. Played first grade as a youngster with Paddington in the early 1960.s then after playing for the Dragons returned to 1st grade with Petersham at the age of 42.
  2. Robert Rushbourne
    Stats:R/H Bat & R/H Fast Bowler. Best Seasons: 1970/71 (A1) . 659 runs @ 50.69 & 42 wicketsNotes: Club Champion 1969/70. Regarded as the Club.s greatest all rounder Robert could bat anywhere in the top order. An outstanding fast bowler and brilliant fieldsman.
  3. Ray Noakes (Vice Captain)
    Stats:
    R/H Bat & Leg Spin Bowler. Best Season: 1968/69 (A1) . 739 runs @ 67.02 Notes: Club Champion 1972/73. Recognised as the Club.s best batsman Ray’s hard hitting style destroyed many bowling attacks. His handy leg spinners made him a formidable all rounder.
  4. Clem Heffernan
    Stats:
    R/H Bat & Wicket Keeper. Best Season: 1974/75 (A1) . 414 runs @ 82.80 (SSCA record)Notes: Club Champion 1974/75. A stubborn top order bat and a more than capable wicket keeper. Captained numerous A1 sides.
  5. Greg Heffernan
    Stats:
    R/H Bat. Best Season: 2004/05 (A1) . 508 runs @ 56.46Notes: Club Champion 1982/83, 1991/92 & 2004/05. Dragon.s greatest clubman playing 32 consecutive seasons from 1973 until 2005. Outstanding stroke maker and brilliant fieldsman.
  6. Drew Lake
    Stats:
    L/H Bat & L/H Medium Fast Bowler. Best Season: 1994/95 (A1) . 463 runsNotes: Club Champion 1995/96 & 2005/06. A long-standing member of Dragon.s A1 sides. Destructive middle order bat and handy quick bowler.
  7. Paul Cameron

    R/H Bat & R/H Off Spin Bowler Best Season.s: 1997/98 (A1) . 351 runs & 2002/03 (A1) 30 wickets @ 12.43Notes: Club Champion 2002/03. Possibly the Club.s greatest fieldsman Paul was a sound top order bat and a more than capable spin bowler.

  9. Graham Chudleigh

    R/H Bat & Leg Spin Bowler. Best Season: 1970/71 (A1) . 42 wickets @ 12.33Notes: Graham was an exceptional leg spin bowler playing 1st grade for St. George. Made the NSW squad on several occasions only to be kept out by the brilliance of legend Ritchie Benaud.
