Dennis Pendergast (2010)

Dennis came to our Club in the 1994/95 season with his son Chris. The following year Dennis took on the role as coach of the 12A team of which Chris was a member. Dennis then went on to coach for the following 3 seasons before taking a break for one season. In 2000/01 Dennis returned to the coaching ranks and successful coached 7 “A” Grade Premiership teams over this ten year period.

His record of 14 years of coaching is a tremendous achievement on its own but Dennis has also been a member of the Club’s Management Committee for four years, coach of our U/10 Development Squad for 2 years and he was a member of the Club’s Grading Committee for 13 years.

Dennis has also coached SSJCA Representative Teams for 11 seasons during this time and is but one of a small number of EDCC coaches who over a long period have promoted our Club’s efforts and contribution to Shire cricket through their work for the SSJCA. In 2015 Dennis was awarded Life Membership of the SSJCA.

Dennis better known to all as “Pendo” has a great passion for cricket and its history and he has generously passed on his enthusiasm and love for the game to countless players. Dennis is one of the most likable and respected characters in our Club and Association.
