The match is a reward for our boys who are in their final years of junior cricket and is played using the modified format where each player bats for 8 overs and bowls 4 overs, thus giving all the players the opportunity to maximise their experience.

The match was very competitive, but played in good spirit with the game coming down to the last over. Engadine batted first scoring 194 runs, with an average of 16.17 losing to Illawong who scored 239 runs with an average 17.07.

The boys also had the opportunity to tour the Bradman Museum in the lunch break.

A great afternoon tea provided by the Illawong was appreciated by all the players and parents.

The Umpires award winners presented by Kevin Bryan and Steve Chapman were Dane Fisher (Engadine) and Daniel Grant (Illawong).

The Coaches award winners were Dylan Rae (Engadine) and Nathan Lang (Illawong).

• The match is to be held on Sunday April 22, 2012 at the Bradman Oval Bowral, approximately 1 ½ hours from the Shire.
• All players are asked to arrive at the ground for 8.45am and put their gear straight into the dressing rooms. Engadine Dragons will be in the “Home Dressing Room” and Illawong Menai will be in the “Visitors Dressing Room”
• Please be in full uniform at 9am sharp for the official photos in front of the pavilion followed by warm ups.
• The first innings will commence at 9.30am with Engadine Dragons batting first.
• Morning tea will be at 11am with coffee, tea and biscuits available in the pavilion.
• The innings will recommence at 11.10am.
• The first innings will conclude at 12.40pm and lunch will be taken. Please provide your own lunch; alternatively there is a cafe at the Bradman Oval that serves light meals and snacks. Coffee and tea will be available in the pavilion.
• The lunch break will be 50 minutes and there are free passes for all players to visit the Bradman Museum. See your coach for the passes. Players are asked not to their wear spikes in the museum, also no caps to be worn.
• Illawong Menai batting innings will commence at 1.30pm.
• Afternoon tea will be served in the pavilion at 3pm thanks to the generosity of the Illawong parents.
• The last session of the match commences at 3.20pm.
• Stumps will be at 4.50pm and at the conclusion of the match we would like as many hands as possible to assist with putting the covers onto the pitch square.
• At 5pm Engadine Dragon’s President Steve Jones will conduct the official presentation of the “Harry Robbins Shield” to the winners. There will also be a presentation of two “Players of the Match” awards, one to each team.

Match Format 

• The match will be played in an average cricket format.
• Each team will bat for 48 overs. There will be 6 pairs of batsmen per team batting for 8 overs per pair.
• If a batsman is dismissed he will go to the non strikers end but keep batting.
• Each team will bowl for 48 overs. Each of the 12 bowlers will bowl 4 overs each.
• Maximum of 8 balls per over.
• If a front foot No Ball is bowled there will be a free hit awarded. The field cannot be changed for the free hit.
• Wicket keepers can be changed between batting pairs.
• Each team is allowed 12 fielders to be on the field, but each team must have a first slip for the entire 48 overs.
• The match will be determined by the highest average, runs scored divided by wickets lost.

JUNIOR

ROUND 9

Player of round 9 is Ben Morgan from our 12B side helping his team to a win with some great bowling, Ben took 4 – 7. Well done Ben.              

ROUND 10

In this round it was Matt Simpson, the 12A wicket keeper. I think this is the first time a keeper has taken a player of the round, so well done. Matt took 3 catches and a stumping and just to add to a great game scored 15 runs, top effort Matt.

INTERMEDIATE 

ROUND 9

A very good bowling effort from Fynn Rodgers who plays in our 14E side had a great day taking 5 – 15. Top bowling Fynn.

ROUND 10

In this last round it was Kieran Levin who takes the prize. Kieran from the 14C’s took 5 – 8 against St Pats. A mighty spell of bowling Kieran, well done.

SENIOR:

ROUND 14

In the final round for the seniors we have another dual winner. This time it is Ben Judge from the B9 side who scored 97 with the bat and to add to that took 3 – 31.

The other player was Kurt Mitchell from the B5″s. Kurt took 5 – 41 in a great spell of bowling against Como Jannali.

Top effort by both players, well done boys.

This season we are playing against Illawong for the Harry Robbins Trophy.

Each team will have 6 pairs, with each pair to face 8 overs against their corresponding pair.

Teams will have 48 overs each with the match decided by total runs divided by wickets lost – ie highest average team is declared the winners.

There will be 4 wicket keepers (2 per team) with the change over to occur at the end of the first 24 overs.

Time Schedule:

9.00am (Sharp):             Arrival with ½ hour for photos and warm up

9.30am:                        Play first 24 overs

11.00am:                      Morning tea

11.10am:                      Play remaining 24 overs

12.50pm:                      Lunch time and time to visit Museum (players free)

Our 16A Team continued the club’s remarkable history of competing in nine of the past eleven 16A Finals, with a win against Como Jannali. This was the Dragons sixth 16A premiership during this period. The team consisted of five players that were part of the 2006/07 10A’s Premiers, Brendan Curtis, Brayden Heffernan, Jacob Heffernan, Dylan Rae and Nathan Marciante. The team was coached by veterans Peter Schofield and Ian Latham and a brilliant fielding display backed by a top wicket keeping performance by Tim Berry with 2 stumpings and 2 catches never gave Como a chance in chasing our 125.

16A Premiers

In a very tight game our 14E team who were coached by Rookie Coaches James Stone & Paul Bremner were able to chase down Bangor’s score. There also won the Minor Premiership.

Our 12A & 12C teams put in a great effort however both were beaten by better teams on the day.

16A Engadine 125 (N Marciante 27, A Gersbach 22, D Fisher 20) beat Como 88 (D Fisher 3-4, A Roberts 3-12, B Heffernan 2-13)

14E Engadine 54 (S Gibson 21) beat Bangor 49 (A Madden 3-6, J Sargeant 2-6)

12A Engadine 62 ( D Croker 24) lost to Caringbah 104 ( J Perritt 2-9, A Ritchie 2-15, D Croker 2-30)

12C Engadine 48 (D Parkes 11 no) lost to Caringbah 2-56 (J Beaton 1-7, B Grimison 1-4)
