THE GIRLS HAVE WON, THE GIRLS
HAVE WON, THE GIRLS HAVE WON.....that's right we did it, the hard work
at training has paid off and all the girls should give themselves a big
pat on the back for achieving the goal set at the beginning of the year
to win by round 4 and this was done by beating St Pats by 13 runs in a
good spirited game.
Week 1 saw us bat first with Kelsey &
Emily’s opening partnership of 26 runs and no outs. Tarni &
Zoe followed up with a partnership of 16 and then a big partnership by
Rebekah L & Rebecca H of 42 runs and no outs. This was a
great start of 2/84 which gave the girls confidence to back up with
some fine bowling and fielding including two direct hit run outs in
successive balls by Emily which was supported by good walking in with
the bowler and backing up all the throws. The talk in the field
was great to hear especially from Gabby who rarely stopped. Keep
up the talk girls – Did I just say that???
Week 2 started with
the girls bowling very well seeing two wickets, both bowled to Mikayla
and Emily. Mikayla also backed up her wicket with a great run
out. All the girls showed enthusiasm and ran after every ball to
keep the oppositions runs down. When it came to our turn to bat
for out 4th and 5th pairs we only needed 17 runs to win. We achieved
this by Mikayla and Gabby batting sensibly and without any loss of
wickets for a partnership of 29, thus ensuring victory. Our last
pair to bat was Meghan and Rebecca L who took apart the St Pats attack
with some lusty hitting and aggressive running between wickets bring up
a total partnership of 35.
Well done girls, your coach, manager,
parents and club are very proud of you and lets hope this will be the
first of many wins. Keep practising and lets ensure we all have
fun.
