Another dominant performance sees the team win this game and complete the first half of the season undefeated. Once again our batting was powerful amassing 257 with only 2 wickets lost. Our openers gave us a fantastic start, Max scoring another 50 not out and Matt just missing out on 49. Dylan was next in and had license to play his shots which he did with plenty of power to record his first half century in U10s, well deserved Dylan. Josh S and Ben G batted very well to score 21 and 14 respectively and our youngest team member Ryan batted very well for 9 not out. Considering Ryan is playing with and against boys 2 years above him at school the coaches are very pleased with his progress, look out next year when he, Josh S and Ben C will be the senior boys in the 10A's.
Once again our bowling was good without being spectacular. The opposition was never going to get away from us however we need to show a little more patience and maintain our line and length on our home ground wicket to bowl teams out. A similar thing happened last season with a much more experienced Dragons 10A side so the coaches are not overly worried at this stage. The fielding on our bumpy ground was very good and most of the team kept their concentration throughout. Bowlers to shine were Ben G who was given a full spell this match and responded with 2 excellent wickets. Alex was also given his full complement of overs and bowled tightly to give away very few runs, his spell included 3 maidens, and his one handed catch in the gully was a highlight. Other bowlers to shine were Max with 2 wickets and Caleb with his first wicket for the season, well done guys. Nicolas and Ben C came on when the Illawong batsmen were scoring freely and bowled well to restrict their scoring. Josh P opened the bowling with Dylan and bowled very well until he hurt his hip, get well mate, we need your bowling and power hitting for next game.
Well done boys, let's keep working at our game and skills for the rest of the season. To the boys who missed out on batting, or bowling a lot of overs this game, be patient as your turn will come, keep on working hard at training.
