The boys batting was excellent this game, with five boys getting their highest ever score and the team scoring 28 runs above their previous best. The bowling was also very good, with the boys seeking to do some serious damage to the stumps. The boys practice a lot outside of the scheduled training day, and the improvements can be seen on the cricket field. Each boy played well again throughout the match, and the highlights as follows:
Jesse bowled a nice line and length, picking up two wickets and keeping the sundries to a minimum. Jesse scored 5 runs and batted very well. Jesse was awarded with the Encouragement Award.
Luke scored 21 runs, which included two fours. Luke and Daniel’s 49 run partnership was a beauty. Luke also got a run out and bowled well.
Joshua’s bowling was outstanding again. Joshua only conceded 4 runs off his three overs which included a maiden over and only one no-ball. Joshua scored 5 runs, which included some great shots. Joshua also got a run out
Adam blasted his way to 7 runs, hitting some powerful shots all around the park. Adam and Beau’s partnership was excellent and the running between the wickets by two of our smaller players was very good (and entertaining).
Beau batted very well, playing each ball on its merits and hitting some good shots. Beau is a smart fielder and looks to get behind the stumps if a run out opportunity is on.
Ryan batted well again, playing some nice cricket shots. Ryan’s bowling was also impressive, pitching the ball further up the pitch as his spell went on. In Ryan’s last two overs, he only conceded three no-ball’s.
Austin continues to show his bowling potential. When he gets his bowling action right, he makes things very difficult for the batsmen. Austin bowled some great deliveries on the weekend.
Daniel is very reliable. He scored 13 runs with the bat and bowled nice and tidy. Daniel is the first to come up and shake both coaches hands after the game, after which the opposition coach would typically remark on Daniel’s great game.
Mitchell filled in for us in the second week. Mitchell’s bowling was excellent, picking up two wickets, and making the batsman play at every ball. Mitchell also showed a safe pair of hands at wicket keeper. Mitchell - thanks for helping us out !!
Great game boys!
