Well this is the match that got away from us. The match was won everywhere but the final result was a win to the Magpies by 3 runs; agonisingly close. Most of the boys put in 110% effort to win the game and I feel particularly sorry for them. We were a bit rusty after the Christmas break but the effort was there and you cant ask for more than that.Miranda has only lost to the red hot Sylvania side and yet we have gone perilously close to winning both times we have played them. This fact is very pleasing to Pat and myself as we are sure we are developing some verygood future cricketers. If they have the desire to succeed I am sure they have the ability.

The match opened with Miranda batting first and posting 64 runs in there 18 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Wickets were taken by Luke Tripi (2) Sam and Nathan, and Nathan and Josh took catches. When are time came to bat we posted 74 runs with the loss of 1 wicket. Koby teamed with Sean to post an opening partnership of 25 runs. Riley and Samuel then took the score to 39 and our third pairing of Nathan and Josh/Marley (Josh retired hurt after a nasty knock to his arm) took the score to 74.

The second day of the match saw Luke Tripi and Spence take the score to 84, followed by Nick and Marley, who batted till the score reached 92. Luke Taylor and Josh were our final pairing and took the score to 112. We lost 9 wickets the second day and this was the telling statistic. Miranda batted there final pairings and good running combined with a few missed opportunities at run outs saw them score 43 runs and take the match.Koby took a wicket. Congratulations to all for getting so close to toppling one of the competitions front runners.
