What can you say about the club’s most devoted couple, Val and Ken. Taking over the running of the club’s magazine in the late 1970’s. Ken was President for 3 seasons (1990-93) and was a well-known figure on Saturday morning matches, going around the grounds to watch over teams playing. He has played an invaluable role for the Club as its delegate to the Anzac Youth Centre since its inception.
Val was involved in running our Ladies Auxiliary Committee and was rewarded with Life Membership in 1994 and recipient of the Hughes Community Award.
Their son, Craig, was a capable all-rounder, who played with the club first as a junior then went on to become a very handy player in the senior ranks, winning the Senior Club Champion award in 1988/89. In 1997 Val’s name was perpetuated on the “Club Member of the Year” trophy.
