SSJCA Annual Reports

The first organised junior cricket played in the Sutherland Shire was in the 1956-57 season when 6 teams competed in SSCA “Sutherland Shire Cricket Association” C-Grade Competition. The following season 1957-58 a separate committee was formed to administrate the C-Grade competition and was split into three age groups – U16, U16 & U12. In the U12 age group there were two divisions. In 1958-59 junior cricket was played under the banner of the Sutherland Shire Boys Cricket Association with 400 players and 32 teams competing in U10 U12, U14 & U16 competitions. The end of the 1959-60 saw the first comprehensive and independent reporting of the activities of the “Sutherland Shire Cricket Association Boys Competition”. In these first four seasons of junior cricket – 1956-57, 1957-58, 1958-59 & 1959-60 the junior reports were detailed in the SSCA Annual Reports. The 1980-81 season saw the junior associations name change to the current SSJCA – “Sutherland Shire Junior Cricket Association”.
