At the conclusion of the 2022/23 season Ian was awarded with a Life Membership of our Club for 25 consecutive playing seasons for the Dragons. Ian commenced playing for the Club in the 1998/99 season in our 14E team coached by Rob Mowlam and received the “Junior Rookie of the Year” trophy as a result of scoring 227 runs @ 28.3 and taking 17 wickets @ 10.1.

Ian’s all round cricketer ability over his 190 matches for the Club has seen him consistently contribute to all the teams he has played for with a common thread throughout his career annual team reports of his brilliance as a fieldsman.

At the conclusion of 2022/23 season Ian joins his brother Mark as a Life Member of our Club, and along with his younger brother Kurt the three Mitchell boys so far played a combined total of 72 seasons for the Dragons. In 2023/24 Ian’s son Henry became the fourth of the Mitchell clan to play cricket for the Club.

What an outstanding show of loyalty from one family.
